How to Solve This Word Search

Word searches reward a steady, systematic eye more than raw speed. Here's how to find every hidden word without missing one:

Saving the short ones for last? BAT and MASK are the sneakiest, because three- and four-letter words blend into the background letters. Give the middle of the grid a slow diagonal sweep for BAT. This puzzle hides 12 words in total, so keep a running tally as you go. For the full method and more, read our guide to winning at word games.

About This Puzzle

Trick or Treat fills a 12×12 grid with twelve Halloween favourites, from JACKOLANTERN (the longest word at twelve letters — it stretches the full height of the grid) down to BAT, the shortest at three. It's our first Halloween word search and one of the easiest puzzles in the October line-up, so it's a good one for younger trick-or-treaters, classroom parties, or a quick warm-up before the harder Halloween puzzles in the pack.
