Welcome to ThePuzzleSolver.net (the "Site"), a free puzzle website run by one person, Mr. Puzzle, from British Columbia, Canada. This policy explains, in plain language, what information is collected when you use the Site, who collects it, and the choices you have.
Email sign-up. If you enter your email address in the "Get New Puzzles by Email" box, it is stored by our email provider, EmailOctopus, and used only to send you occasional puzzle updates. We never sell or share your address. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we'll remove you. See EmailOctopus's Privacy Policy.
Emails you send us. If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply, and we don't add you to any mailing list unless you ask.
To make the puzzles easier to use, the Site saves a few small items in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device. It is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings:
Like almost every website, our web host keeps standard server logs that record things like your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the visit. These logs are used only to keep the Site running and secure.
The Site also loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google when a page loads. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not currently use Google Analytics or any other visitor-tracking analytics service.
This Site uses Google AdSense to show advertisements, which is how the puzzles stay free. Our AdSense account is still under review, so you may not see ads yet, but the AdSense code and the consent message described below are already in place, so this section applies from your first visit. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this Site and other sites, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure how ads perform.
To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent message (provided through Google) before personalized ads are shown. You can accept, decline or manage your choices there, and change them later through the privacy link that message provides. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they won't be personalized.
Wherever you are, you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The puzzles will keep working, though some saved settings may be lost.
The Site includes a voluntary tip link to Buy Me a Coffee. If you choose to leave a tip, your payment is handled entirely by Buy Me a Coffee under its Privacy Policy. We never see or store your payment details.
ThePuzzleSolver.net is an original puzzle resource: our own puzzles, solving guides, articles and tools. Some pages, including our Recommended Puzzle Sites page, link to other websites we think are useful. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their privacy practices, so please review their policies when you visit them.
ThePuzzleSolver.net is a general-audience, family-friendly site. Some puzzles are designed to suit kids, but the Site is not directed primarily at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Children do not need to give us any information to use the puzzles, and we ask that they not use the email sign-up. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We keep your email address only while you're subscribed. You can ask to see, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you by emailing us, and we'll respond within 30 days.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
