How to Solve This Logic Grid Puzzle
Every clue here rules something out rather than telling you the answer directly — that's normal for logic grid puzzles, and it's exactly what the grid is for.
Stack up the negative clues row by row. Clues 1, 2, and 3 all rule out a subject for Owen — mark an ✗ for each, and the one blank cell left in his row must be a ✓.
Use what you've placed to work the rest. Once Owen's subject is locked in, cross it off for Lily, Noah, and Ava too — no one can share a first class. Clues 4 and 5 rule out two more subjects for Noah, and combined with Owen's subject now crossed off, only one option remains open for Noah.
Let one solved row unlock the next. With Owen's and Noah's subjects placed, clue 6 rules out one more option for Lily, leaving her a single blank cell — and Ava's schedule falls out by pure elimination, with no clue mentioning her at all.
Every clue here is a "not" statement — nothing is handed to you directly. Mr. Puzzle built The First Day Schedule for back-to-school season — a 4×4 grid, one size up from our easiest logic puzzles. All six clues are "not" statements, and each one is necessary — take any single clue away and more than one solution becomes possible. Ava gets her first class by pure elimination; no clue mentions her by name at all.
