Each number tells you how many squares in a row to fill in that line, in order. A clue of 2 2 means: fill 2 squares, leave at least one blank, then fill 2 more.

How to Solve This Nonogram

Nonograms (also called picross, griddlers, or hanjie) are logic puzzles that hide a picture inside a grid of numbers:

Start with the biggest clues. The longest column clue here is 17, well over half the 20-tall grid — so its middle cells are forced no matter how the run sits. Mark those overlaps first.
Watch for lone single clues. A clue of just 1 sitting between two solved lines can often be pinned down early using the cells already fixed above and below it.
Work the overlap. When a clue number is more than half the line's length, the middle cells must always be filled no matter how the run shifts — mark those immediately.

Walkthrough: Your First Four Moves

Not sure where to begin? Here's exactly how Mr. Puzzle opens this grid. Rows are numbered top to bottom and columns left to right.

Clear the edges. Rows 1, 2 and 20 have no clue, and neither do columns 1–4 and 17–20. The working area is columns 5 to 16 (12 wide) and rows 3 to 19 (17 tall).
Columns 10 and 11 (17). Exactly the working height, so fill rows 3 through 19.
Rows 9 and 10 (12). Exactly the working width, so fill columns 5 through 16.
Columns 9 and 12 (13). In 17 rows, that's 4 squares of wiggle room, so rows 7 through 15 are filled.

Why It's Rated Medium

It's a 20×20, but every row and column is a single run with no splits at all. It's mostly about counting carefully outward from the centre.

Spoiler: what does this puzzle hide?

Red Card Suit hides a bold, symmetrical emblem straight off a deck of playing cards — one of the two red suits. It is a mirror image both top-to-bottom and left-to-right, so every row you solve on one half hands you its twin for free. Fill the wide rows across the middle first, where the longest runs sit, then let the steadily narrowing clues taper the shape to its points above and below.
