Grab the one-of-a-kind lengths first. Only one animal in the bank has nine letters, only one has six and only one has five — those three rows are settled the moment you count the boxes.
Let the riddle break the ties. Three answers are three letters long and two pairs are four and seven letters long, so for those rows the clue does the work — “Sly as a _____” only fits one of the three-letter animals.
Read the bonus word as you go. Copy each circled letter down in order. By the fifth or sixth letter the ten-letter bonus word usually jumps out, and it can confirm a row you weren't sure of.
